Mette Bjørndal’s artistic practice centers on installations and sculptures that investigate sound, rhythm, tempo, and the perception of time. Rather than producing sound directly, her works explore the conditions through which sound and rhythm emerge: repetition and interruption, resonance and silence, movement and pause. As music takes form through the intervals between sounds, time becomes perceptible through its breaks, returns, and repetitions.

Working with familiar objects, forms, and systems, Bjørndal shifts their scale, material, function, or context, allowing them to move beyond their ordinary use. What appears fixed or functional begins to behave more like a body or an organism, carrying its own rhythm and trajectory through space and time.
